Dr. Debbie Rice, ND
She focues on female hormone issues, thyroid and autoimmune thyroid, food intolerance, celiac disease, extensive nutritional testing and counseling, neurotransmitter testing to help manage depression and anxiety with natural treatments, pediatric allergies and gastrointestinal disorders. She is an expert in the use of bio-identical hormones. She enjoys introducing homeopathic ooptions when appropriate. Dr. Rice can functions as a primary care provider for kids and adults or as a consultant. Dr. Rice obtained her undergraduate education at Arizona State University with degrees in Exercise Biochemistry and Exercise Physiology. She also studied Spanish and has traveled and worked internationally in the Peace Corps. She grew up in Denver with dreams of becoming a doctor. She continued her journey of education to Arizona State University where she was introduced to Naturopathic Medicine. Wanting to dedicate her life to healthy living and creating a perfect balance of natural healing with healthy lifestyle choices, she followed her dream to Portland where she completed her degree as a Naturopathic physician. She has worked with the Peace Corps where she taught general health, women’s rights, environmental conservation, and yoga. Her experience abroad opened her eyes to how crucial lifestyle choices are to the preservation of personal and global health. She strongly feels that Naturopathic Medicine encompasses nutritional, emotional, physical, and spiritual facilitation toward healing. Debbie lives in SW Portland with her two kitties. She enjoys anything to do with the sun and outdoors, yoga, reading and embracing her inner geek. There is so much to learn about life, why close your eyes to the wonderful opportunities to get out there and experience it!
Naturopathic Physicians (N.D.) are primary care practitioners trained as specialist in natural medicine. They are educated in conventional medical sciences, but are not orthodox medical doctors (allopathic physicians, or M.D.). A Naturopathic Physician has a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine degree from a four-year graduate level naturopathic medical college with admission requirements comparable to those of conventional medical schools
